Eight Months

Didn't Caleb just turn 7 months? How can he be 8 months already? Wow October has flown by!

This month:
  • Caleb can cruise between 2 pieces of furniture, more often than not his body moves but his feet stay! But once in a while his feet remember what to do. =)
  • He sometimes does a full crawl with his belly on the floor. Caleb is still a huge fan of army crawling and seems to prefer that. Either way, he moves very quickly! The kitties have learned to run when he gets too close. Occasionally Caleb catches one and ends up with a handful of hair. The cats seem to know not to be mean to him though.
  • His top 2 teeth cut this week. It was a MISERABLE 2 days for both Caleb and Mommy. We had a hard time nursing, but we made it through and how he's a happy boy with a total of 3 teeth.
  • Aunt Beth & Grandma gave us some new toys - including a few for the back deck. We've had fun playing and exploring all the new things! (And yes, I mean we. New toys might be more exciting to me than Caleb!) Our new toys include: a polar coaster, a Vtech Walker, shape sorting blocks, and a few more too!
  • Caleb is starting to show an interest in actually reading books, he likes to flip the pages and look at the pictures. He still likes to eat them too!
  • And of course, he is very curious about everything! Like, "Why is this sticker on my shirt? I want to eat it!"

It's a lot of fun having a mobile baby. We have toys all over the house! I never have been one to handle a lot of clutter, but toys don't bother me. It's great knowing Caleb has a fun place to play and a little mess never hurt anybody. =) But, I think I had better get moving on baby proofing....

We have a lot of things happening in the next few weeks.
  • Getting the seasonal flu shot and hopefully the H1N1. (We're on a wait list for that)
  • A photo shoot with our friend, Melissa
  • Visiting Grandma Nancy!
  • Helping Aunt Beth move into her new house
  • Playdates with Andrea & Nathan; Brenda and Elizabeth
And then, before I can blink Caleb will be 9 months old!!!!

A Whole Lotta Happy!

On Friday Caleb experienced his first trip to the North Carolina State Fair! We had a great day exploring the fair. Caleb was such a good sport about being at the fair for 6+ hours. He loved watching all the people, and trying out some food!

Caleb waved for the first time at the fair! A young woman working the Food Lion stand was smiling and waving at him, he stuck his little arm out in the air and she was SO excited "HE WAVED AT ME!" Granted it was more like a Hitler salute, but we were excited.

What was on the menu at the fair this year? Turkey legs, corn, sausage sandwich, funnel cake, fried pickles, ice cream, candied apples and lots of lemonade! We also got to sample red hot dogs, sausage, peanut bars, yogurt, soup and salsa. We enjoyed every bit of our day, and the calories that came with it! =)

Here are some pictures of our day!

International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day was yesterday. Through various blogs and message boards, I have "met" 3 families that have experienced the loss of a child. I didn't have time to post, but I did spend some time remembering the lives lost and especially praying for their families. Last night, I lit a candle in honor of 3 little babies that are no longer with their families. These three babies have touched so many lives including my own. If you want to follow their stories, here are the links to their blogs.

Seven Months Old

Little man is growing so quickly!

It's getting harder and harder to get Caleb to sit still for pictures! He wants to crawl and eat the camera, and I always miss his smiles. He has the BEST smiles!

Caleb has hit quite a few new milestones this last month:
  • "scrawl" or army crawl all the way across the house
  • pull himself up to a standing position
  • stay in a standing position for several minutes
  • started to eat meat and table foods (he's had mashed potatoes, peas, green beans, french fries, banana, biscuits, baked beans, pasta) Now he doesn't really LIKE many table foods yet, he much prefers his purees! Caleb loves mum-mums, wagon wheels, biter biscuits and yogurt melts.
  • Cut his first tooth! His bottom middle tooth came in while we were moving! Caleb had one fussy night but other than that he handled it well. I *think* he may be getting another one, but it's hard to tell. Every time I try to look he either sticks his tongue out to block my view, or he bites me. =)
We've been busy this week decorating Caleb's new room. We have a few projects in the work including a french memory board, photo collage and wall letters. I'll post pictures soon!

Let's see, what else to share from last month?

Check out those blue eyes!! Those are all from Mommy and we hope they stay that way!
Caleb loves to dump out all of his toys, and then usually eats the toy bin!
Posing with his new firetruck, while wearing firetruck clothes. Isn't that fancy?
Oh, that's where we packed the baby!
And Caleb is now sitting up at bath time! He usually just eats a wash cloth, but also likes smacking the water.
